====== 2024-06-23 - toy stenography ======

as a father of 2 curious minds i nowadays spend a significant fraction of my awake-time showing them interesting science, technology and let them play with it. today i came across [[https://www.instructables.com/Invisible-Ink-Using-Turmeric/|instructables on making toy-stenography in the kitchen]], but not the usual lemon+fire. this time the invisible ink was baking soda mixed with water and to develop it we used [[wp>turmeric]] mixed with [[wp>Isopropyl alcohol|IPA]]. to both paint and develop we used cotton swabs.

i was really surprised with both how well it hid on the paper and how clearly it developed afterwards. give it a shot -- lots of fun and some quality time with kids at the same time! :)
