====== 2012.04.29 - error correction ====== {{ :blog:2012:04:29:matrix_failure.jpg?200|matrix failure}} errors are regular events -- they are the norm, not the odds. they do happen and happen often (at scale). some people think that their code is error-free (sometimes such an opinion is disguised as "i've never seen an error in //whateverthesystemsnameis//"). they are obviously wrong, but the point is, that even if they weren't, they'd still need perform checks on their data. why? because an error can randomly appear. [[wp>soft error|soft errors]] are the reality now. but this is not over... i recommend you an excellent [[http://perspectives.mvdirona.com/2012/02/26/ObservationsOnErrorsCorrectionsTrustOfDependentSystems.aspx|article on errors and a need for detection of them]]. it is a weekend -- a nice time to enjoy the knowledge. :)
