====== 2022-08-27 - KiCad SDK ======

recently, while working on [[:blog:2022:08:21:2022-08-21_-_toy_satellite_project|toy satellite]] for my sons, i've decided to [[:blog:2022:07:25:2022-07-25_-_switching_from_eagle_to_kicad|switch over to KiCad]]. this was also a pretext to create command line SDK for [[wp>reproducible builds]] of KiCad output, including:

  - gerber files
  - [[wp>Bill of materials|BOM]] file
  - STL files for prototyping and 3D printing integration

since this required some custom scripting and was not as obvious as i originally anticipated, i've decided to make this SDK a separate project. therefor [[https://github.com/el-bart/kicad_sdk|KiCad SDK]] is now freely available on [[https://github.com|github]].

this is yet another automated SDK, used for a bit unusual purpose. along with [[https://github.com/el-bart/3d_printing_sdk|3D printing SDK]] it creates a solid base for automation of interdisciplinary projects, that combine: 3D printing, electronics and software together.
