i recently wrote about Voron Tap project. soon after a came across CNC-machined kit from Chaoticlab… and decided to go for it. :)
i'm super impressed by how ultra precise this thing is. once calibrated for barely-touching paper sheet at 0.1mm over the bed… it stays exactly like that every single time. no matter the surface – it's always 100% identical. i've re-quad-gantry-leveled the printer many times, bed-probed it high dozens of times and printed quite a few things with it. it's just borderline perfect.
it's not only an order of magnitude more precise than kilcky probe i've used before, but also much faster! there's a couple of reasons for that, namely:
additionally having nozzle as a probe, it means that external z-sensor is not needed anymore. this also means that a much higher print surface is (finally) usable with Voron! :D
from the time perspective i only regret i have not done that upgrade earlier!
