2012.11.07 - music for programming

to fall into the programming trance is a lot like falling asleep. different methods can be used. music is nice companion to me, in many cases. if i need to focus, it must be special type of music. rather silent, rhythmic, slow, rather no lyrics… dead can dance usually works pretty well, soundtracks are often nice (for example soundtrack from Monsters is the good one).

a friend of mine sent me an interesting link – musicforprogramming page contains prepared compilations of many tracks, performed by various artists, that suit quite well to programming (at least for me). have a look & enjoy… :)

2012.11.07 - ISO C++ portal

an interesting site has recently appeared on the internet – isocpp.org. yes – this is C++'s standard page! after years! it is there. the most important news, interesting trainings, books, articles… and The C++ Programming Language book, by Bjarne Stroustrup (i.e. new edition, featuring C++11), is to be published in the matter of months.

another interesting news is we'll see a new C++ standard in about 2 years time¹⁾. in a mean time we can expect 3 technical specifications. even more interesting times are ahead of us! :)

there is a great talk available on channel 9 about the future of C++, by Herb Sutter.
