2013.04.22 - architecture for scale

server room (image take from http://static.itpro.co.uk/sites/itpro/files/styles/gallery_wide/public/server_room.jpg)

recently on high scalability i came across an interesting post about architecture(s) that scale. it is an interesting history of running a service, that faced exponential growth. do you expect your service to go larger? you should! and when it does, the only way is to scale by throwing extra money on the servers. Quoting from the article itself:

Architecture is doing the right thing when growth can be handled by adding more of the same stuff. You want to be able to scale by throwing money at the problem by throwing more boxes at the problem as you need them. If you are architecture can do that, then you’re golden.

have a nice reading. :)
